I work on the strontium Rydberg/plasma experiment with my supervisor Matt Jones and fellow PhD student James Millen who started the year previous to me. My current task is to develop the laser system for the 689 nm transition in strontium so that we can produce an ultracold sample.

I was brought up in the historic market town of Royston in north Hertfordshire and attended the Long Road sixth form college in Cambridge. After my A-levels I came to Durham University to do my integrated Master's degree, during which I researched acoustic phased arrays for my final year project.

Outside of the lab I enjoy football, reading, darts and Ultimate frisbee.
